6/26 Lomakatsi: Partners in WILDFIRE Prevention for Jacksonville

Join this JCC talk with Lomakatsi Restoration Project, a local forest restoration nonprofit celebrating their 30th anniversary, is partnering with the City of Jacksonville and other community organizations to help reduce wildfire risk within and adjacent to town. You’ll hear about the completed and planned ecologically centered work happening around the Jacksonville Woodlands, and on adjacent private and Bureau of Land Management-administered land. You’ll also learn about Lomakatsi’s innovative approach to collaborative forest restoration across the Rogue Valley and the region, building long-term partnerships with tribes, state and federal agencies, NGOs, and community organizations while integrating workforce training programs for tribal and rural youth.

Presenter Bios:
Adam Lohman, Ecological Forester & Policy Analyst
Adam joined the Lomakatsi team in March 2024 with a background in forestry, policy, and environmental management. He provides leadership in forest restoration planning, monitoring, geospatial analysis, and government affairs. He previously worked in the Oregon Legislature, where he developed legislation on wildfire mitigation, forestry, and renewable energy. A proud
Jacksonville Elementary alum, Adam earned dual Master’s Degrees from Duke University in Forestry and Environmental Management with a concentration in Environmental Economics and Policy.

Tom Greco, Communications Director
Tom joined Lomakatsi in 2019 and has over a decade of experience in environmental nonprofit communications, program development, policy, and grant writing. He provides community engagement leadership for Lomakatsi and through partnerships, including as Chair of the Rogue Forest Partners engagement committee and Board Secretary for Firebrand Resiliency Collective. Tom holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Boston College. He lives just outside Jacksonville city limits with his wife and two children who are students at Jacksonville Elementary.
