12/11 FREE House Concert: Mark Turnbull – Unique guitarist, songwriter, actor and storyteller

JCC is happy to host beloved local guitarist, actor, storyteller and songwriter, Mark Turnbull for a winter’s evening FREE house concert of originals and well-known songs, social insights and stories with heart. You will enjoy Mark’s delightful skill as a guitarist and chuckle at his witty lyrics. A special evening is in store.
As a Grammy-nominated songwriter, Mark began his performing career at the age of five on the Jimmy Durante Show in 1954. Since then he has recorded three albums and written 5 full length musicals, 7 solo shows, (including ‘Mark Turnbull and Friends – A One Man Show,’ which was named “Best One Man Show of 1994” by the Los Angeles Times); 3 children’s musicals, and 14 original cabaret revues. He was the musical director for the Laguna Playhouse from 1984-1991, winning a DramaLogue Award for his musical direction of “Quilters”. Of his solo work, The Los Angeles Times has written, “Turnbull seems like nothing less than a performer on a spiritual quest, unwilling to pander even when he’s being funny, full of quiet conviction, poetic vigor, clever whimsy and touching insight.”
