Robin Engel is a lifelong educator who has taught practically every grade level under the sun. Before retiring to Oregon from Arizona, Robin spent time under the spotlight performing stand-up comedy. She has dedicated a lifetime to exploring the history, heart, and hilarious mechanics of laughter—making her the perfect guide for this comedic time-travel adventure!

But have you ever stopped to wonder why we laugh, or how a joke from the 1800s stacks up against the humor of today? Whether you are a lifelong comedy fan who has watched the entertainment landscape transform over the decades, or simply a curious history lover who wants to understand the roots of wit, this engaging afternoon is for you! Join educator and humorist Robin Engel at the Jacksonville Community Center for a fun, fascinating journey through time. Together, we’ll explore how comedy challenges social norms, connects generations, and reveals the fascinating science of what makes something truly funny. Tickets are $5 (supports JCC).
