SUMMARY:7/9 FREE House Concert: Sonido Alegre
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the joyful Sonido Alegre Duo featuring Charles Guy on guitar and Linda Powers on violin – expert musicians with a mix of Spanish/Gypsy-flavored originals & their own take on popular cover songs. Presented through a grant with the Jackson County Cultural Coalition and Oregon Cultural Trust. \nCharles Guy and Linda Powers are a duo\, who play original music with Spanish Flavor and Flamenco Flair. Influenced by trips to the Riviera Nayarit in Mexico\, Charles’ original songs\, composed on nylon string guitar\, came to full fruition with the addition of Linda Powers’ gypsy violin improvisations. Both musicians have a rich history of musical styles ranging from Charles’ electric funk/rock days; steel string acoustic and nylon string guitar in various highly popular local bands; to Linda’s bluegrass and old-timey fiddle music days; moving on to “swing style” violin playing in local gypsy swing bands. Both are vocalist and songwriters. The confluence of these two musicians produces a unique and fascinating collection of music. \n
